The Greater Vancouver Zoo's summer Jr. Zoologist camps are taking place Monday, July 15 - Friday, July 19 and Monday, August 12- Friday, August 16th. Join us for a day or for the whole week while we explore the Diversity of Living Things. Zoo staff will demonstrate how scientists observe animal features to distinguish and classify them. Create enrichment items for animals, make crafts, conduct experiments, meet some of our Animal Care staff, and more!

Monday: The Diversity of Living Things: taxonomy
Join us for an introduction into the science of animal classification and learn the difference between Kingdoms, Orders, Families and Species
Tuesday: Class Reptilia: how do we classify reptiles?
Learn about the four existing orders of reptiles: turtles, crocodilians, (lizards and snakes), and
Wednesday: Class Aves: how do we classify birds?
Classification of birds involves grouping them into categories according to physiological similarities; this session will compare ostriches to other birds
Thursday: Class Mammalia: how do we classify mammals
Today's focus will be on animals that usually possess hair or fur and mammary glands
Friday: Felidae and Canidae: how do we classify felines and canines?
We conclude our week with families and learn how to differentiate between cats and dogs
